Do you support the ceding of public lands (verges & Turnbull Way) surrounding the Wellington Street site for the benefit of ADC

  • Yes

  • No

Condition 42 of WAPC Approval

Public realm generally consists of streets, squares, parks and open spaces, that are publicly accessible.

The plans submitted by the developer, ADC, include the use of the public realm as depicted in their Landscape Plans. This land is not owned by ADC.

Condition 42 of the WAPC approval requires ADC to enter an agreement with the Town of Mosman Park (ToMP), prior to occupation of the development, regarding the construction, implementation and maintenance of the public realm.

The WAPC have no power or authority to compel the Town of Mosman Park to give away our public lands for the profit of ADC.

ToMP are our representatives. We need to send a strong message that the Mosman Park Community do not agree with the ceding of public lands for the benefit of developers.

I noticed the other day that MosLane is opening up an office in Napolean St in Cottesloe. Does this mean that the public land has been ceded and they are now able to proceed with selling apartments for development?

I'm am pleased to hear that MHAG will continue to oppose this egregious injustice. The development will be detrimental to us but I feel more strongly about the injustice for the nearest neighbors who, if this proceeds, will be the victims of legalised theft of the value from their properties, to the tune of hundreds of thousands of dollars each.

Reflecting on the outcome of the WAPC hearing, which seemed so perverse, I think much of the perversion arises from an differing understandings of 'community benefit'. For existing residents there are scarcely any benefits (none, IMO) and undeniably a net detriment. This did not stop WAPC panellists (and the planning officer who recommended approval) using 'community benefit' to justify bre…

Traffic volume us already a problem with this site and there will be significantly more when narrow Turnbull Way is the main entrance and exit onto Wellington Street for the proposed development's service vehicles and general usage. The Wellington Street /Manning Street roundabout is also very close to these entrance and ways, compounding potential traffic problems.

This development does not meet Mosman Park building guidelines. My husband and I built recently and we were not afforded any leeway with our home, why should this development be allowed to be constructed flaunting these guidelines! Presently, I frequent the on-site shops, with the proposed parking situation I would avoid going to the new development, considering what is proposed. I feel sorry for the residents in close proximity to the development as it would impact on their homes. The development should be restricted to 3 levels only and set back more from the road verge.
